The Nintendo Playstation

It’s hard to believe now, but for a while in the early nineties, Nintendo and Sony were going to team together and create a disk-based add-on for the Super Nintendo system.  The deal fell through for a variety of reasons and that add-on became the Sony Playstation.

A few prototypes were created but none were thought to have survived until a Reddit users posted pictures of one that his dad owns.

“My dad worked for a company, apparently one of the guys he used to work with, I think his name was Olaf, used to work at Nintendo and when my dads company went bankrupt, my dad found it in a box of “junk” he was supposed to throw out… I have not had a chance to boot her up, I don’t have a power cable at the moment, but it seems like it’s a pretty common DC cable. I’ll have to get one and see how it goes.”

If it’s real, this system is a true lost treasure.  We can’t wait to see if he can get it working!
