The Montserrat Exclusion Zone

http://slightlywarped.com/the-montserrat-exclusion-zone/

In 1995, the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean Sea was struck by a disaster that literally wiped out more than half the island.

The Soufriere Hills volcano, thought to be dormant, roared to life and eventually buried the capitol city of Plymouth and many surrounded towns.

Half of Montserrat is now considered too dangerous to live due to eruptions and venting that continues to this day.

Visiting the exclusion zone is like visiting a modern day Pompeii.
