The Martian Ice Lake

http://slightlywarped.com/the-martian-ice-lake/

With the discovery of water-ice on Mars, scientists are taking a closer look at this feature in an unnamed crater on the plains of the Vastitas Borealis in Mars’ Northern polar region.

At a time when the carbon dioxide ice has evaporated, this round deposit of ice remains leading those scientists to believe that it is actually a large collection of water-ice.

How large?  The crater itself is over 35 kilometers across and two kilometers deep.  The deposit could easily make colonization of the area (in the far future, of course) a distinct possibility.  This area could also be where confirmed extraterrestrial life  discovered.
