The Human Zoo

This may seem hard to believe, but human zoos existed as recently as the 1930s and it is exactly what it sounds like.  The most well documented example was the Jardin d’Agronomie Tropicale, a showcase of French colonialism located in Paris that operated in 1907.  In this showcase, the curious masses could observe humans from other parts of the world in their “natural habitats,” usually leaving them open for gawking and ridicule… a complete travesty of human rights.

Today, the grounds are deserted and the structures rotting away.
