Walt Disney World is a major money-maker and is always ready to rake in more tourist dollars, so closing the park is something that is never done lightly. As a matter of fact, Disney World has only been closed three times in its 45 year history. October 6th, 2016 became the fourth as Hurricane Matthew bore down on Florida, Disney decided that closing the park would ensure the safety of its guests should the storm blow their way.
