Crazy Crisscross Bridge

The proposed Pearl River Necklace Bridge may look like some kind of messed-up pretzel, but there is wisdom behind the madness.

This bridge is part of a proposal by NL Architects to connect Hong Kong with China.  To do that, they have to solve one important dilemma: people drive on the left side of the road in Hong Kong and on the right in China.  Therefore, the Pearl Necklace Bridge serves as a “flipper” to keep left and right from crashing head on.
