On January 22, 2013, a large warehouse on Chicago's South Side caught fire resulting in one of the largest blazes the city had seen in years, something so massive that a third of the city's firefighters were called out to get it under control.

Complicating the issue were the sub-freezing temperatures that froze the spray from the firehouses, encasing the building and everything around it in ice.
