AN INTERSECTION OF HISTORY

This is a picture of Abraham Lincoln's funeral procession taken ten days after his assassination and marks an interesting intersection of history.  What makes this picture so special and precious are the two boys looking out of the window watching the black procession pass.  The boys were named Ted and Elliot and they watched the somber spectacle pass their grandfather's office on Union Square but, of course, we know Ted today as Teddy... Teddy Rosevelt who, thirty-six years later following the assassination of another president, would become the 26th president of the United States.
