The Victoria Amazornica is the world’s largest water lily.  Its lilies can reach an astounding three meters in diameter and can support up to seventy pounds (the size of a husky child) as it floats in the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin.

This amazing plant was was called Victoria Regia after Queen Victoria of the UK when it was discovered by explorer Robert Schomburgk in 1836.
