Star Trek: “Day of the Dove”

Air Date: 11.01.1968
Stardate: Unknown

“Day of the Dove” shows more promise than many third-season episodes for many reason. Kang actually provides a good adversary for Kirk for once and even though the anti-violence message in this show is delivered with a sledgehammer and not a scalpel, it all serves the story nicely.

While not a great episode, it’s pretty good and where most third season offerings start okay and end up messes, the ending of “Day of the Dove” actually solidifies it as something respectable as it sums up Star Trek’s message of cooperation and tolerance.

Interesting Fact: This episode marks the only time in the series that we see a female Klingon.

“We need no urging to hate humans. But, for the present, only a fool fights in a burning house.”
– Kang
